I hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer with time to relax from their everyday life, however that may look.
When the cooler evenings arrive, we know the summer golf league is over, and it’s crunch time to finish up the last of your summer projects. A new season is just around the corner! While summer doesn’t officially end until September 23, we all know when the yellow buses return, and the kids and grandkids go off to school, it’s FALL time!
For those going off to college for the first time, there’s the ritual of move-in day, and it’s probably a bitter-sweet moment. Actually, Willow Bend has one of our own going away to college this year. She has been with us for a while and will be deeply missed. If she and others perform in college as well as they performed here at the Club, they have nothing to worry about! Best wishes to every student and family!
When September hits, it is a fast-paced race to the end of the year and time to shift into overdrive, because the Club becomes even busier. We are entering into the time of year when the schedule fills up very quickly, but we love the excitement and challenge to be the very best we can be, and we look forward to all of the upcoming events. If you haven’t planned your party or family get-together, please call me to lock in a date. We will make every attempt to ensure your special event is memorable. From down-home & casual to formal & elegant, we’ve done it all! Let us worry about the details – you just enjoy your party!
One last sign of fall is the beginning of football season! When was the last time that there was so much excitement and expectations coming from Cleveland about the Cleveland Browns…hmmm?
Maybe, lets’ go back to 1986-1987, the back to back years where eight points, two games and the Denver Broncos kept Cleveland from playing in two Superbowls. Now, fast forward to the present (skip all the bad stuff in between). We have HOPE!!! We have a team that is built to WIN now! AND, we have a quarterback, Baker Mayfield, that has the talent and swagger to carry the Brown’s Nation on his shoulders! It has been a long, long time…let this be the year of greatness and make the factory of sadness no more. “Woof Woof…I’m a Dog,” and we wake up feeling “dangerous.”
Ohio State is Ohio State. A new era is about to begin in Columbus, and I’m happy to say that they don’t rebuild, they reload full of talent and expectations. If you have never been to an Ohio State game in the Horseshoe, put it on your bucket list. It is truly one of the best fall season experiences. The tradition, the excitement as the team comes out of the tunnel after the band just scripted Ohio, and of course…the dotting of the “I.” You really feel proud to be an Ohioan! You just can’t beat a Saturday, fall afternoon in Ohio. In case you would like a schedule, just click on this link Browns/Buckeyes.
Finally, Willow Bend recently installed a flag pole and will be holding a dedication once the monument is complete. We would like to list our members who are veterans at the dedication. If you are a Willow Bend member and are a veteran, or if you know of a Willow Bend member veteran who has passed away, please send an email message to include their name and what branch of the military they served in to Craig Bracken at: firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not have email you may call Craig at 419-238-5551, ext. 2895. There will be more to come regarding the date of this event.
Well, it’s time to grab that beer (because I’m in a beer mood), and gather around the tail-gate grill for this month’s fireside chat.
Here is this month’s rundown:
Take Care, be safe and may the road rise to meet you.
Go Buckeyes! Go Browns!
See you at the Club!
