Par for the Course

Greetings from the Pro Shop

Today is Tuesday April 24, 2018. The forecast is calling for rain and a high of 55 degrees which we know is not good golf weather. However, this is one of the better days we have had in April which has produced limited activity and things for me to write about. Although the weather has not cooperated, the Pro Shop staff is ready to go with new merchandise, new décor, new golf carts, new men’s and women’s lockers, new outdoor furniture, and a new tournament schedule that includes a few new formats and payouts.

We will start the year off with the annual “Opening Day Scramble” on Saturday, May 12 and end the month with the “Memorial Day Scramble” on Monday, May 28. The Senior and Men’s leagues will get underway the week of May 14. Please find a copy of this year’s schedule enclosed.

As you know, a Junior Golf program was created in 2017 that many of our members graciously contributed too. This program was developed with the help of the National Alliance for Youth Sports “Hook a Kid on Golf” program and our instructors, Kim and Brad Doidge.

The program was a huge success with a total of 66 junior golfers participating. Because of this success, Willow Bend Country Club was chosen as the “New Site of the Year!” Many thanks to Kim and Brad, as well as to all of the incredible sponsors that helped make this happen. Please take the time to read the article that was published by the National Alliance for Youth Sports.

Lastly, I want to take this time to welcome the following new golf members: Craig Bracken, Doug Kehres, Tim Stoller, Brent Beck, Aaron Beck, and Don Farmer. Welcome!

Please come out and support your Club. It’s only as strong as its members!
